Fps/tps
I'd really love to see an option that allowed Guild Wars to be played similar to a First Person/Third Person shooter. In FPS/TPS mode, you'd have free mouselook (without having to hold down the right mouse button), and a targeting reticule so that you could target and attack easily. The cursor would appear when you open your inventory, etc. but would automatically vanish again when the window was closed. At the moment, those of us who enjoy playing FPS or TPS style have to hold down the right mouse button 90% of the time, and can't target while we're doing so.

Well I think GW does have that. But I'm not 100% sure what FPS/TPS mode really is. Can someone describe it? But I have to disagree with the cursor moving to the box when you open it. I sometimes have it sitting there, out of use.

I already described it. I think you're misunderstanding me. What I'm asking for is a mode that, when turned on, gets rid of the cursor and lets you stay in mouselook without having to hold down the right mouse button. In addition, it gives you a targeting reticule in the center of the screen, the same as a First Person or Third Person shooter would. The cursor would only appear when you open an inventory window, etc. and would vanish again when the window was closed.
Yes, I know there are plenty of people who wouldn't use this, but I also know that there are a lot of us out there who like FPS style controls and would enjoy playing the game this way. It would be nice to have the option.

Relax, Lunarhound. The game wasn't released yet and you have already suggested so much...

Star Wars Galaxies works like this. You can even use reticule targetting in 3rd person. It's one of the most intuitive systems around.
The targetting in GW is a joke at the moment, especially during hectic moments where you need split second timing. Cycling targets might be ok for 4v4 arena and PVE, but as soon as you get in Tombs where you have 20+ people on screen at once it becomes an unplayable clusterRED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO. Ever try targetting someone's Ghostly Hero that's about to take the dias in the Hall of Heroes and there's 10+ people surrounding him, as well as another Ghostly Hero in the area? By the time you can cycle to/click on him the opportunity to stop him is already gone.

I don't like the targeting either. It is the only thing I truly dislike about the game.

I don't think it'd hurt to stay as far away from Star Wars Galaxies as possible

i think the targeting is fine, i use the hotkeys and cycle through instead of trying to point and click, i just wish i could bind my other mouse buttons, i have 5 of them let me use all 5 hope you see this gaile

If you think targeting is fine, that's great, and you're free to keep using it the way you like obviously, but some of us would like to be able to target with the mouse while in free look mouse mode. The more options people have when it comes to control, the better.

oh sorry lunar i didnt mean to say that they didnt need to implement your idea, i was just saying im fine with it, id just like the extra mouse buttons, that part wasnt directed towards you, sorry for the missunderstanding

You've never done dais maps, have you?
Good luck cycling through 20+ targets or trying to click on someone surrounded by a cluster of warriors, all fighting inside a screenful of Nature Rituals.
